The Yankee Classic & New England DanceSport Championships ® is sanctioned by the National Dance Council of America and is run under its rules and regulations.All participants are obliged to adhere by the Official Rules published by the NDCA which can be found in the official NDCA rulebook.

Both Professional and Amateur couples are required to be registered with the NDCA in order to take part in NDCA events.

RULES & REGULATIONS

YANKEE CLASSIC PRICES:

PLEASE REMEMBER that ALL of YANKEE CLASSIC PRICES are WHOLESALE PRICES and a TEACHER/STUDIO MARKUP SHOULD BE EXPECTED, also TEACHER FEES are NOT INCLUDED in OUR FEES.

WHAT TO WEAR:

AMATEUR NOVICE: Closed Syllabus Divisions: In both International and American Styles may wear costumes, however it is not required. Open Novice Divisions: Costumes are encouraged.
PRO-AM and STUDEN STUDENT: Competition attire should be worn by competitors whenever possible.
WHAT TO WEAR?: Where costumes are not worn, you should wear: Ladies: cocktail or suitable dress, and Gentlemen: dark suit, tuxedo, dance vest, or sweater jacket

CLOSING DATE

In order to guarantee appearance in the program, your entry information should be in our office by May 10th. We will do all that we can to make sure that entries received after that time get into the program, however we can not guarantee it.

FULL PACKAGE PLANS

PLEASE CONTACT the Organizers at TheYankeeClassic@aol.com for Full Details Cancellations in writing and received before May 5th will be charged a cancellation fee of $100 per package. Cancellations in writing and received between May 5th & May 10th will be charged a cancellation fee of $150 per package. Cancellations in writing received after May 10th will be charged $250. Cancellations received postmarked June 1st or after WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. Cancellations received at the event WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. All written requests for refunds will be considered 60 days following the event to allow for the processing of the master hotel bill.

GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS

ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR PRIOR TO ALL SESSIONS. Tickets are available from 8:00am Thursday and at any time during the event week- end. GENERAL ADMISSION Tickets are not available for Advance Purchase by mail order. EXCEPT for THURSDAY DUAL Admission Tickets ~ which are available before May 10th, for ADVANCE SALE ONLY! General Admission Tickets do not guarantee seating and are possibly “Standing Room Only” for all sessions.

RESERVED SEAT “FRIDAY EVENING and SATURDAY EVENING” TICKETS

Are $65 for Saturday Night and $65 for Friday Night and should be purchased in ADVANCE! Advance Reserved Admission ticket order forms MUST arrive at the Yankee classic office NO LATER than MAY 10th. All Advance Tickets will be Held at the Yankee Classic Reception Desk and may be picked up at any time during the event. You will receive a mailed confirmation of our receipt of your order, however TICKETS WILL NOT be MAILED and are NON REFUNDABLE.

AIRPORT INFORMATION

Airport of choice is Boston Logan International, which is just 5 minutes from the Marriott-Cambridge Center. Pick up a taxi from the Taxi Starter out- side and ask for the Marriott Cambridge Center. The average taxi fare is between $18-$25 depending on the time of your arrival. There are several Marriott Hotels in Boston so be sure to specify Marriott Cambridge Center.

HOTEL BOOKINGS

Rooms may be booked directly with the Marriott Hotel or with the organizers. In either case you will receive the Yankee Classic convention room rate per night plus tax, if booked before our deadline. CALL the Marriott Cambridge Center directly at 617 494-6600, BE SURE TO REQUEST THE YANKEE CLASSIC RATE. Alternatively, you may call us at 845 268-6368 and receive the same rate. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to guarantee your room reservation. Cancellations for hotel reservations must be cancelled directly with the hotel 72 hours prior to your date of arrival, or the hotel will charge a “no show” fee to your credit card.

HOTEL CHECK IN

The official hotel check in time is 3:00pm, however, the front desk will make every effort to accommodate you when rooms are available.

JUNIOR RULES & REGULATIONS

DEADLINE

All Junior Entries and Fees should be received by the Deadline. All entries received by the deadline will receive a Confirmation.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

Only written cancellations due to illness will be honored. Cancellations due to illness will be given a credit towards next years event. Cancellations received at the event will not receive a credit.

CHANGES

Any entry changes on the day of the competition MUST BE MADE at least 1 HOUR before the heat is to be danced. All changes are subject to the approval of the Chairman of Judges and must be made with our Registrar. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

SYLLABUS

Please note we have both CLOSED and OPEN Divisions ~ Teachers PLEASE place your students in the correct categories. NOTE IN ALL CLOSED DIVISIONS~ FIGURES MUST be DANCED WITHIN THE FRAME WORK OF THE SYLLABUS. Invigilators will be used for all CLOSED syllabus Divisions ~ Couples committing infractions will first be warned by the Invigilator, if no corrections are made it will result in being placed last. If your students routines have any form of choreography other than syllabus figures please enter them in the OPEN categories.

*** JUVENILE AND PRE-TEEN RULES ***

Please note we have both CLOSED and OPEN Juvenile and Pre-Teen Divisions. If your students routines have any form of choreography other than the closed syllabus figures as stated in the tech book…please enter them in the Open categories.

*** JUNIOR —-NO PARTNER—-COMPETE SINGLY ***
This is a category for Juniors without a dance partner. The boy or girl in this category will dance singly and will be judged on their own merit.

*** JUNIOR OPEN SINGLES ***

This is a category for Juniors without regular dance partners. The single boy or girl in this category will be being judged, they will not be judged as a couple. Please make sure you place an (OS) next to the open singles name. Also all partners names must be listed, entries will not be excepted without both partners names. The boy will wear the number. CASH AWARD will be GIVEN to the TOP 3 “JUNIOR OPEN SINGLE PARTNERS”

ON DECK AREA

We will have an ON DECK area for the children to be in waiting to compete. ALL JUNIORS MUST USE THIS AREA TO ENTER and EXIT THE DANCE FLOOR. We cannot rerun heats for couples ~ please have your couples in this area 30 minutes prior to their heat. PLEASE NOTE: this area is not for parents. We will allow one (1) teacher per studio in this area to help make sure their students are ready. This area should not be used as a viewing area for teachers.

JUNIOR STUDIO OWNERS

If you have 5 Junior Couples participating in our event on “SUNDAY” your Sunday admission into the Ballroom is FREE!! Please note: one (1) owner per studio. PLEASE SEE CATHI FOR YOUR SUNDAY ADMISSION PASS!

VIDEO CAMERA, DIGITAL CAMERAS WITH VIDEO CAPABILITY & CELL PHONES WILL BE ALLOWED ON “SUNDAY ONLY”
Taping at any other time is NOT ALLOWED. We reserve the right to take video tapes and or digital cards. We also reserve the right to have security remove any persons not adhering to our video policy. Admission will not be refunded to anyone removed from the ballroom for not adhering to our video policies.
